Jay Miles worked many years in the environmental field and specialized in ornithology. His love of nature and the out of doors has been portrayed through his carvings. Carving and working with wood to him is a form of joy and relaxation. His wooden sculptures includes owls, shorebirds, decoys and weathervanes although he has also been active in carving southwestern folk art, such as, kachinas and Santos of the 19th/20th century era. The North American Decoy Collectors Association is a nonprofit, educational organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois. It invites membership to all persons.
